Political Boxing (ANC VS DA)

I did not think my subscription to mail and guardian will lead to this 'Bleurgh'... As part youth of South Africa I speak for all of us and say "DA stop politically harassing ANC, and ANC change your president". But in all honesty we as the youth are tired of this back and forth, it is not exactly making us see the light in either party. I read the mail and guardian to be informed and the last thing I would like to be informed about is this childish feud between DA (Democratic Alliance) and ANC (African National Congress). Now this might just be the saucing of journalist working as vultures, but with the elections next year a watchful eye is kept on parties and as informers the media wants to keep citizens on the loop. However, will the elections next year be any different?

I never voted in my life or rather, ever since I got my ID. I am currently 23 years old and I actually want to be part of the decision that might change our whole future, that's if it ever changes. I might be one person but I am just generally tired of complaining about government or cursing about how ridiculous our president is when I did not even stop him from being a president. I mean if you want to see a change in politics being ignorant might not be the best idea. Yes people are afraid that DA might bring back apartheid, but look at it this way ANC has not exactly annihilated all forms of apartheid or discrimination, it is still there, probably even worse now. Anywho! Instead of DA fighting ANC and trying so much to make people aware of how terrible ANC is doing, I think it is time DA focuses on DA. Except for the Western Cape I am not sure what the DA hopes to provide to the rest of the country, I am not sure I know of what they hope to change in any other place than the Western Cape. If they go to Limpopo and do something, like talk the peoples language, feed the hungry, give the helpless hope and educate children. I would believe that they are a Democratic Alliance.

Now it is very tricky with ANC I am not really sure what the problem is. Are they hiding money for the second apartheid and party exile? Where is all the money going? Do they throw parties at their meetings? I am sure the party began with good intentions, giving black people the same chance at life as white people basically equality. I mean that is why we are currently living in a democracy. But I do not think even ANC believe in equality. They too must also think that if DA wins the election it will be back to a segregated country. But we are already segregated, whether it is by class, looks, education, accent, etc., We are segregated. And we wont be on common ground in a long time. But for Gods sake can we move away from this 'colour' 'race' thing. We are different in so many ways, colour shouldn't be the one thing bothering us the most. Anyway! Still on ANC. Can ANC play their part and lead the country, lead us into a better future, not into another Zimbabwe (Dear Lord, No Please!). And If you want to spite the 'whites' that believe in apartheid, show them you can do better by looking past colour and actually do something for the country.

In a perfect country a perfect party would be one that feeds the hungry. Provides shelter for the homeless, educates those who don't have money to go to school. A party that administers its police, medical and education institutions and makes sure that those are operating 100% for the people. A party that does not linger too much on the past but acknowledges it.

But unfortunately we do not live in a perfect country. There are millions of poor, homeless and hungry people out there. There are hundreds and thousands of kids out there that still cannot read. Our police service sucks, our hospitals kidnaps newborns and rapes old women, our teaching system only delivers textbooks after months when kids need them. We are led by a party that is still very angry about the past, and this anger also drips on the youth of the country creating hatred amongst people. But I am hopeful. I know there are many others out there who are hopeful and maybe my great, great, greatest grandchildren will live better than I am.
